There Once was a Young Maiden

I had recently finished the PBS Series Poldark and Downton Abbey and was feeling nostalgic for some 18th-19th Century Beauty! So I set to work creating a shoot that would put together my love for Senior Photography and my love for Regency Period Beauty!

I enlisted the help of a true hair and makeup Genius, Tiffany Johnson owner of  Tiffany Johnson Beauty! She has the sweetest personality and is always such a joy to be around! She is also incredibly talented as a Hair and Makeup Artist! She brought my vision to life! We kept the makeup simple to be true to the time. She also did a stunning job on Kiersten’s Hair! Though I LOVE the beauty of the Regency Time, I am not a fan of the TIGHT ringlets framing the face… that was “all the rage” at those times. So I searched far and wide for a true to time style that would fit my vision. She did so wonderfully! Everything was perfection!

I wanted to have a modern feel to these photos so we started out in Downtown Logan at a Beautiful Church near Logan High. We were working at super speeds because this beautiful young lady was freezing! I always feel so guilty when I am bundled in my 18 million layers and my girls are dressed in short sleeved dresses!

After we finished at the church, we headed to the Judicial Courts Building because I wanted to utilize their amazing windows. While we were there I had Kiersten give me her best “Strut to the Camera, Walk” and she NAILED IT! Seriously she was on Fire!

Kiersten had brought with her a stunning parasol and I knew I needed a location that was would give us a lovely scenic view. So our last stop was at First Dam. This location was what made my dreams turn reality. I thought I wanted a more urban/modern feel… (and all the photos we go in town were Gorgeous to the MAX) But it was not till we got to the water, mountains, ducks, and even the snow that I was giddy with excitement!

This shoot was everything and more! Thanks Kiersten for being such a BABE and a huge thanks to Tiffany for such an amazing job!!

Props or No Props | That is the Question?!? -Props or No Props | Logan Utah Photographer | MelB Photography- In a previous post I gave a brief opinion about Props. I thought I would dig a little more into this topic... When I first started MelB Photography I believed Props was where it was at! I went out right away and spent a mini fortune on all these adorable props! I would buy all these shabby items and turn them into adorable masterpieces! During my first year of business it was likely that if you drove by my home you would most likely see me out spray painting something. If not that there was certainly many multi colored props ...
Friends | Logan Utah Photographer Why? You may be asking yourself, "Why would I want to have and Adult Friends Shoot" ? Well I say to that ... WHY NOT?!? TBH... Ok folks... Since I became a Senior Photographer I have been associating with more seniors now than I have in the last 10 years. And I must say... The acronyms have grown exponentially! And my knowledge of said acronyms, not so much! I have seen TBH around a lot lately and I could not for the life of me figure out what it meant. Every time I would see it the person would be using it in a different context from the last. Finally I consulted Siri. Well Siri did not disappoint. If an ...
